Gordon F. Schadt
Gordon grew up in Ellinwood and Emporia Kansas. After graduating from Kansas State Teachers College, he taught English for five years at Denver's Manual High School and later attended the University of Denver College of Law, graduating in 1975. While in law school, Gordon worked as a legal intern for the attorneys for the Aleut Corporation which solidified his desire to live in Alaska. From 1975 through 1979, he was employed as an associate attorney with one of the large law firms in Anchorage.

Since 1979 Gordon has managed his own firm or been co-managing partner, consistently increasing the emphasis on real property. Throughout his professional career he has been heavily involved in real property and commercial lending law, including loan closing and documentation of large commercial building projects, massive transfers of commercial loans, and transfers of large parcels of real property in bush Alaska.

He has experience in most major areas of real estate law including platting, zoning, brokerage, land transfer and finance, landlord/tenant and leasing, foreclosure and repossession, hazardous waste, condominium law, boundaries and surveys, and all matters relating to title to real property. He is a frequent lecturer for the Real Property Section of the Bar Association and other professional groups.

He has extensive experience in survey issues and quiet title litigation. Legal consultation has included work for the U. S. Forest Service in Petersburg, Alaska resolving boundary and survey issues, helping major subdivisions resolve title and platting issues, numerous quiet title suits to resolve title and survey issues, and preparation of conveyancing documents to finalize boundary relocations. He represented the Municipality of Anchorage in the Rabbit Creek Defective Survey Litigation and provided legal services to the Alaska Association of Realtors in the development of the recently adopted real estate licensing statutes.

Gordon is a member of the Alaska Bar Associations and was chairperson of the Real Estate Section of the Alaska Bar Association from 1988 to 1994. He was invited to join the American College of Real Estate Lawyers in 1992 as the fourth Alaskan member. He has been rated one of the Best Lawyers of 2010 for Alaska Real Estate Law by Best Lawyers in America and as one of Alaska’s Super Lawyers for Real Estate Law for 2009 By Super Lawyers Magazine.
